While Extrude Hone's ECM, ECD, ECP processes are essentially the same, they are used within the high-production automotive manufacturing sector to achieve slightly different results or objectives. For example, ECM produces the best burr removal results on automotive components with unique contours or specific-edge geometries that cannot be produced by conventional machining methods, such as diesel fuel injector nozzles or the recesses in gear teeth. ECD effectively deburrs holes and edges in difficult to reach locations like the interior surface of air bag housings or the cross-drilled holes inside manifold blocks. ECP provides ultra-high quality polishing of complex 3D contoured surfaces. CoolPulse produces extremely clean components at microscopic levels and surfaces that often exceed those produced with ECP.
