Areospace Applications - Extrude Hone
The very nature of the Extrude Hone Abrasive Flow Machining (AFM) process, including MicroFlow™ AFM, makes it ideally suited for the automotive manufacturing sector. AFM provides automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and automotive suppliers with a cost-effective, highly-efficient, automated and repeatable process that significantly improves the overall surface uniformity, performance and life-span of cast, forged and machined automotive components.

Some automotive components feature intricate internal surfaces and edges with less than direct passage ways where fluid, fuel or air flows. Many of these passageways were previously impossible to reach for the purpose of deburring and surface finishing prior to the introduction of AFM. With AFM, such automotive OEM components as intake and exhaust ports, combustion chambers of cylinder heads, intake and exhaust manifolds, throttle body adapters, pistons, and gears benefit greatly from our precision deburring, polishing, and edge radiusing improvements:
